Time will tell. I've never done any distance on a Cali so the 1600km trip home will tell me a lot. I'll either like it or I won't.
There are 2 issues I'll be looking at. Firstly the weight. I can't believe the Cali is 65kg heavier than my MK III. I'm going to see if I can trim it down but I really can't see how there is that much to trim. Secondly the seating position. I'm not 100% sure I will like the laid back style. I don't have any lower back issues and I certainly don't want any. I do know of people that have gotten rid of their Cali due to back pain but most of them had pre-existing conditions and are much taller than me.
I find on a forward leaning bike I can easily hold my back in a good posture. On more vertical bikes I can feel myself slump and I have to continually rectify my posture. On a laid back seat I can only guess.
As I stated, time will tell. Many find them extremely comfortable.
