Most of the Bikes were Harleys as there are two quite large Harley clubs in Hampshire. But there were loads of old British bikes
including a few cafe racers!

I didn't see many Guzzi's only three in fact. A beautiful "W" reg Le Mans, an old military bike? and A Calli.

There is no entry fee, people just turn up, park up and wander around the vehicles. I can't think of a better way to spend a
couple of hours on Boxing Day!

December 26th 2008

Following last years visit, I decided to go to the Wickham Square Boxing Day Meet again for 2008 along with my son and father in law. It was a bright, sunny but very cold morning, ideal for viewing the masses of vehicles that attend each year. While traveling along the B2177 we passed a beautiful old MG Magnette, giving my father in law the opportunity to tell my son that "Grandad had one of those"!

Yet again the square was packed full with anything and everything that had wheels and an engine, and the air hung heavy with the smell of steam and two stroke oil mixing in with the aroma of the burger vans.

My son's priority was to find his mate from school that was attending with his Dad in their 1965 Ford Zephyr, while my priority was to find the Guzzi's and take some pictures for you guys.

As usual the Guzzi's were a bit thin on the ground but as we walked down towards the river I heard the familiar tone of Italy's finest and was passed by two LeMans. When we got down to the river the owners had gone but we got to view the bikes and leave them each a Squadra flyer. Flying the flag for Guzzi in the square were two military bikes. One I think was a falcone and the other a Super Alce complete with Gun! They were joined by an old 850 Cali, a blue LeMans and a red Monza.

Alce Alce, complete with gun!

As well as the Guzzi's there were plenty of other bikes, mostly Harleys and old British bikes including a Triumph Thunderbird wall of death bike, a Duglas Dragonfly, an AJS trail bike, a lovely old Arial as well as a pair of Leverda's and a pair of Yammaha RD350lc's
