1957 V8 500cc Racer

1957 V8 500cc Racer

Do you own or have access to one of these beauties?

If so, Joe and I would love to pop over , take a few pics, make a few notes and do a really interesting story on what is possibly the fastest Guzzi ever made.

If you're in England or close by let us know and we'd love to do a story on one of these classic v8's. Even better if its a working running example.I'd love to swing my leg over one of these and I dont even have to ask Joe. I know what his answer is.

I'm there!!!- Joe...if anyone out there doesn't know what one of these is, check this out:- V8 (Play it LOUD!!!)

V8 t-shirt. Squadra Guzzista Moto Guzzi clothing
You Tube clip of Discovery Channel "Top Ten bikes".

The legendary V8 only came in at No 9!!! Unbefrigginlievable!!! watch the clip and listen to what the talking heads are saying!

It took 30 years for racing bikes to reach 190mph after the V8....a V8 for chrissakes! the most ambitious and radical motorcycle ever built...number 9...I ask you!!!

V8 on the track!

Have a look at this other clip...again from You Tube...

This is one of the most remarkable and rare sights you will ever come accross. How many people in the world can say they saw/heard/experienced a V8 on its turf...a race track?

View this clip and then tell me it doesn't deserve to be number 1! It's like the telly programme that voted Kevin Keegan a greater footballer than George Best...it's in the frigging name dude!!!

Well, I just found this amazing video shot in Italy!

As with any other V8 vid clip, you gotta play this LOUD to really appreciate the sound of this most amazing of bikes!

Imagine how it must have sounded in the narrow streets of San Pietro, in Casale...and the dude's riding it in shorts and t-shirt...rock on!

How proud must the members of that Italian Guzzi club be to have been honoured by the presence of the V8...magical stuff...we're not worthy!

The clip is by taddiq and this takes you to his page!

You can tell this has got my goat going...what do you guys think out there? Scroll to the bottom of the page, click "leave a comment" and type away...but keep it clean...you're entitled to an opinion but I do the filth around here!

Oh! almost forgot...know a Guzzista? Tell them about our site by clicking here: Recommend A magazine article from Motorcycle Enthusiast's May 1986 issue highlighting the V8 has been added to the site...here!

If you want to get close to the V8 thenyou need to make a pilgrimage to the factory in Mandello. Where they have a bike and spare engine. My wife and I rode there on our 1100 sport and took in the stelvio pass on the way. The very best time is during GMG when thousands of Guzzisti head home to mandello. The museum is crammed with historic Guzzis . If you want to get an impression of racing the V8 you must read the biography of the late great Bill Lomas without Bill te V8 would never have made it off the drawing board and into the record books

I have been lucky enough to see ( and hear ) this beautiful bike twice, first time at Goodwood a few years back, I have a couple of pictures, which I will post to the albums, or somewhere, it is absolutely exquisite, eight sets of tiny points etc. and so small, but best is the sound, it reminded me of a 70's F1 car, what a sound... the next time was at Montlery near Paris for the classic bike do ( now moved to a normal circuit ) where Sammy Miller rode it around the banking, what a sight.... shame he dropped it (allegedly). I feel blessed to have seen it, and the Laverda V6,oh and visited the Britten factory, stuff like this will never happen again, the rules wont allow it.
