This is what I was making a tribute to.
Okay Folks,
This is what I was attempting to recreate starting from this somewhat unpromising Tart's Handbag.

EEewwww! Shiny ;0)

Mind you, I am quite happy with the results.

I was aiming for early-mid '70s, but with the deeply valanced Jackal style mudguards, I reckon I overshot some.
To me it looks more mid 50's, but I do like it anyway.

Right....Enough preamble....
If you are fortunate enough to find one of these pukka Cali seats, you are off to a very good start.
The rear mudguard will need drilling for the hinge for the saddle. The front of the seat needs a 'beak' adding to follow the shape of the more modern tank which is shallower in angle than the old T3 tank.

As can be seen when the saddle is lifted, the metal sidepanel is some way from standard.

Sorry about the blurriness of the phots...I am a bit out of focus myself today :0/

I have grafted in an insert to extend the top to cover the fuses better.
This is the bracketry required to support the right hand sidepanel. ( The left hand side will have to wait 'till later as I can't get at it at the moment :0/ )

There is an additional mount at the top rear. It is a fabricated bracket with a plastic MFI cabinet captive nut grafted on :0)..Yes I will get around to painting it....Job 561,001 out of 1,000,001..... LOL

You can see I have removed the tang at the bottom, and plated up to take the bottom mount.
The log bolt at the front has a spacer sleeve to engage with the front mount. You can see the extent of the top infill and the top rear mounting hole on this shot too.

Well that is all for now....Any questions just give me a holler on the forum.

Hey there Nige, nice going...Looking at the way it was before with the "tasteful" backrest I can see why you decided some changes were needed. I think that's a really interesting job you've done on it and, as you know, it's something I'm keen to do to my Jackal as my backside's shape is being altered by the Jackal's seat! I'm glad the conversion is possible as I was beginning to think it may not be...where did you get the amazing seat?

Joe
