A report from Scott (Griso 1100):

Dragon Slayer

CycleMo's Motorcycle Museum
(September 20, 2008)

I went for a ride to the 2nd annual CycleMo’s Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet
held at CycleMo's Motorcycle Museum in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee.

CycleMo's is a vintage motorcycle museum that also has a small shop and apparel store. Check out their web-site: CycleMo's

It was about a 300 mile round trip from my home in Knoxville, TN ... and the weather/ride was absolutely perfect!

CycleMo's is nestled in middle Tennessee among some of the most
beautiful country around. This is the entrance to the shop off of Main Street in Red Boiling Springs.
Dennis' "The Regulator" (Customized 2003 Yamaha Road Star) The Bean Pot Restaurant
I rode up with a buddy of mine, and he entered his bike into the bike show…
he rides a 2003 Yamaha Road Star that he’s modified quite a bit. He calls it
"The Regulator".
The day started off with a quick stop for breakfast at a great country store called the "Bean Pot Restaurant".
Breakfast Stop CycleMo's Parking Lot #2
Of course I had to show that Squadra Guzzista was there (see sticker on rear
hugger fender).

We pulled in, and my Griso was the only Moto Guzzi there (all day!) They had a bunch of bikes of all kinds entered into the Bike Show…and I wanted to enter, but unfortunately there was no class for me to enter .... I always knew I had no class! ;-)

When I inquired what class I might be able to sign up for, after scratching their heads a bit the officials determined I could go in with the Late Model Japanese bikes ….

... Well, I decided not to do that because it would be tough to explain to a bunch of disgruntled Japanese riders how an Italian bike beat their Asian one! Plus, that was the class my buddy was in, and I didn’t want to face a potentially uncomfortable ride home if either of us beat out the other!
Pondering 1906 (I think) Harley
Of course there were quite a few "What is THAT?" types of reactions! I took this clandestine pic from the front porch of the shop while these guys were noodling at my bike. There was quite the variety of things to see.....from the old ....
Ducati Monster S4R Just a bunch of Harleys
... to the new (This Monster and a late model BMW were the only other modern European bikes at the event).... though we weren't entered in the show. From the "usual".... a flotilla of Harley Davidson cruisers
(Sorry, but they pretty much all look the same to me) ...
VW Trike "Tennessee Whiskey" Custom Bobber
... to the " What were they thinking?!? " .... ...I really liked the craftsmanship on this Bobber ...
No Skool Triumph
This was a top finisher in it's class ....it's called "No Skool", and it will be featured and on the cover of the January 2009 edition of EasyRider Magazine. Also here was a really sweet Triumph that was nicely restored (we don't see too many of them over this way)
The Regulator Wins! Hanging out by the Truck
Then to cap off the day, "The Regulator" won it's class !

(I guess that was a good decision not to enter my bike, cause I'd hate to have taken the trophy from Dennis... ... especially seeing that I would have needed
him to carry it in his saddlebag on our return to Knoxville!)
All-in-all, it was a great ride and event. If you're ever over this way, a trip to CycleMo's will be a good item on the itinerary!

I'm finishing with a couple of slide shows of more pics from the show and trip ...... Enjoy!

Cheers!

Scott.
