Hello, my name is [NAME HERE]!

About Me...

My home town: Santa Rosa, CA

Country I live in: USA

My Occupation: Hospital ER clerk

How I found Squadra Guzzista: Search of Net.

More about me...
How long have I been riding bikes? Since 1953 on a near-daily basis

Why Moto Guzzi? Provenance, good touring bike, loyal owners, relative ease of maintenance, not Japanese.

How/when I first became interested in Moto Guzzi: I bought a used 1975 850-T around 1980. Did not keep it more than a year, but always felt I'd get another.

My main type of riding is (competition/pleasure/commute/work): Day trips and commuting to work (5 miles each way). My wife of 37 years often comes along on the pillion when I do day trips (especially if I throw in lunch!).

About my Guzzi...

What is it (model/year): 2004 California Stone Touring

How long I have owned it:5 months

Is this my first Moto Guzzi:No, see above.

Other Guzzis in my stable:None.

Modifications I have made and why: Power Commander, Fast by Feracci air box, Mistral silencers, billet rider footrests located 8" aft of originals. YSS fork springs and rear dampers. All modifications by original owner who sold bike to me. They add a lot to my enjoyment.

The bike's main purpose is: Day trips and commuting.

It's quirks: Odometer and trip meter dying at 7K miles.

How it compares with other bikes I've owned: It is a "keeper".

What it's like to live with: Much pride of ownership, balanced by awareness that there is no dealer anywhere near me and that bike has some reliability issues.

What it's like to ride: relaxed and comfortable. Good handling and adequate brakes. Fuel mileage only fair in spite of very relaxed use of right wrist. Poor gear change when changing down.

My bike's most appealing feature is: Uniqueness and history of Guzzi

My bike's best feature is: Good feeling when I start it and set off.

Would I recommend it to my best friend? No. He does not posess the requisite mechanical acumen.

Would I own another, given the chance: Yes, very definitely, but not a new one unless Aprilia et al give better support.

General Guzzi stuff...
What I think of current Guzzi models: Some are too Japanese looking.

If I could, the one I'd buy tomorrow: Cal Vintage or Coppa Italia

My all time favourite Guzzi: My 2004 Stone Touring

If I were boss at Mandello I would: Get serious about replacing parts that consistently give headaches, such as sticking gas caps, poor quality EFI hoses and clamps, etc. I would provide better dealer training and support. I would insure such quality control as to make Guzzi a more popular bike for dealers to carry.
