About Me...

My home town: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Country I live in: USA

My Occupation: Retired

How I found Squadra Guzzista: Yahoo Loop Frame list

More about me...
How long have I been riding bikes? 45 years

Why Moto Guzzi? There's just something about the quirky nature of the machine that appeals to me. It has personallity.

How/when I first became interested in Moto Guzzi: In mid-80s, I followed one on several breakfast rides. It was so much more interesting than the Honda I was riding that I decided I had to have one.

My main type of riding is (competition/pleasure/commute/work): Pleasure riding

About my Guzzi...

What is it (model/year): 1973 Eldo with Wixom bags and trunk and National Cycle windshield

How long I have owned it: Since 1989

Is this my first Moto Guzzi: My first Moto Guzzi was a 1986 LeMans 1000 purchased almost new from the late Merlyn Plumlee.

Other Guzzis in my stable: 2003 Stone with EZS sidecar

Modifications I have made and why: Eldo is stock except for late clutch, Uni Filters, headlight relays, &Japanese switches. All these changes made to improve reliability and ease of service.

The bike's main purpose is: Around town transportation, but it has taken me to Sturgis 6 or 8 times.

It's quirks: None.

How it compares with other bikes I've owned: Requires more maintenance, but easy to work on. Not as fast as others I have owned and brakes are not as good - but it's way more fun to ride.

What it's like to live with: Take care of it and it will take care of you.

What it's like to ride: Comfortable, not fast, lots of smiles per mile.

My bike's most appealing feature is: Looks

My bike's best feature is: The wonderful motor.

Would I recommend one like it to my best friend? Sure, if my friend knows how to take care of a vintage machine

Would I own another, given the chance: Of course.

General Guzzi stuff...
What I think of current Guzzi models: Build quality seems better, but seems to be too much model overlap.

If I could, the one I'd buy tomorrow: California Vintage

My all time favourite Guzzi: My Eldo

If I were boss at Mandello I would: Develop a 4 valve OHC version of the V twin, keep focus on improving quality, and listen very carefully to owner feedback.
