How long have I been riding bikes? since the early eighties

Why Moto Guzzi? There are others?

How/when I first became interested in Moto Guzzi:
Always have been really, a mate of mine bought a V50 in 1983 and I was really impressed. Having said that, it's only been recently that I've bought one. A mate was selling his machine and I knew it was a good one.

My main type of riding is (competition/pleasure/commute/work): I ride for pleasure, I would like to do more riding than I do at the moment.


About my Guzzi...
What is it (model/year): Le Mans V 1990 (H)

How long I have owned it: Since Aug 2004

Is this my first Moto Guzzi: Yes.

Other Guzzis in my stable:

Modifications I have made and why: Sensible mods have been to use stianless fittings and exhaust system and these were done before I bought it. Otherwise, it's pretty much a Guzzi intended. If it aint broke don't fix it!

The bike's main purpose is: to be enjoyed.

It's quirks: sometimes tricky to start, almost like it's not going to - but usually does. Headlight that doesn't move with the steering can be startling on the lanes at night.

How it compares with other bikes I've owned: I don't miss other bikes that I've owned, they were alright and fun to ride too, not remarkable though.

What it's like to live with: Could do with electronic ignition.

What it's like to ride: lovely, handles well and brakes are decent

My bike's most appealing feature is: Vee twin / shaft drive

My bike's best feature is: I like the 'modern classic' style.

Would I recommend one like it to my best friend?: If I thought that they'd appreciate it. But just because I like them, it doesn't mean that everyone should like them.

Would I own another, given the chance: Yes, if / when I get another machine, it will probably be a Guzzi.
